This week we’re checking out Ertl's Item #45029R, an outstanding replica of John Deere's 2954D Forestry Swing Machine with a Waratah 624C Harvester Head.

This diecast metal replica has been constructed in 1/50 scale and is painted in John Deere green.
The operator control center can be viewed easily through clear windows on the front, back, and both sides. This feature is included on the real machine in accordance with forestry safety requirements.

It is nicely detailed with the a realistic gray operator's seat, control levers, and pedals cast within the textured floor board.
Just like the real machine, the 360 degree rotation of the body allows you to pose this processor in many positions.
The boom and arm have a great range of motion with its working cylinders and rams.  When they are fully extended, the model measures 10.5 inches long, 3 inches wide, and 4.5 inches tall.

The Waratah head (known for durability, reliability, and precision) is distinctively designed with its free swiveling head and hydraulic lines.
Each side of the boom has "Keep Back 300 FT/90M" graphics, just like the real machine.

If you look closely, you can even see the John Deere "Deer" logo at the top on both sides of the arm.

The tracks have a solid metal construction and roll freely, especially on a textured surface.
There are three opening compartment doors including one located on each side of the machine.  One side door provides easy accessibility to the engine area while the other side door allows you to access the debris-management system.
The third opening is found on the top and allows for additional maintenance access to the engine area.

From this aerial view, you can also see the texture that is cast into the top and side walkways.
The rear of the model is decked out with multiple graphics including the John Deere graphics on the tail and in the rear window. It also includes the warning labels located above both of the painted-on taillights for extra detail.

Join us again next week when we explore the features of another exciting model.
