This is the
John Deere 4450 Tractor from
ERTL, item number
45289. This is the first tractor in
ERTL's new Precision Elite line of John Deere tractors.
This model has been excellently cast
in 1/16 scale. |
It is incredibly
detailed and cast in diecast metal, with just a few plastic
parts.
Here you can see it comes
complete with the John Deere logos and model number decals. The
emblem on the front is a sturdy plastic and stands out solidly.

There are two
panels covering the fuel tank and radiator. These panels are
attached by a spring and can be opened to reveal even more great
detail. |
Here is the
engine with its wonderful detailing. It looks very realistic
and authentic, and is almost entirely diecast.
You should also note the steps
leading to the cab just next to the engine. These are also
diecast and quite sturdy. |
|
|
The cab door
opens, as well as the back window. Inside you find the well
detailed cab, especially the steering column and control panel
and feature moving levers. Both the front and rear windshields have wiper blades. There is
also no slip tread on the floor. |
The front wheels
have a working, diecast axle and can turn nearly 180 degrees.
All the wheels feature rubber like tires and diecast hubs with
bolt like detailing. |

This model actually has two
different types of hitches. The first is a three point hitch. It
raises and lowers, but is stiff enough to be posed in any
position. |
It lifts up to
reveal the second hitch, a pin hitch. Both are well detailed,
and fully functional.
As you can see, the on and off
switch is located just above the hitch and just below the
warning flag. |
|
|
When the model is on, simply
pressing on the top of the cab activates the lights and sounds.
These four rear warning lights light up, as well as the steering
column, front grill lights, and the fender lights. It also makes a variety of sounds, including the engine
revving up from idle to full throttle and back to idle. |
This exceptional
model is incredibly detailed and has a large number of moving
components. With the added light and sound features, this model
stands alone, at least until the second model in the series is
released in the spring. |
